Mark Donaldson VC went off the rails after his father died and his mother disappeared, becoming a punk and a drunk on the streets of Sydney. Donaldson joined the army in 2002, wanting to give back to society. In Afghanistan, Donaldson repeatedly put his life on the line to save his mates. He was the first Australian in 40 years to receive the Victoria Cross for the incredible bravery he showed.
