Why Hollywood fails when it comes to massive armies? Go to https://buyraycon.com/invicta to get up to 30% off sitewide! Brought to you by Raycon. In this video we examine the way in which traditional media depicts massive armies. More often than not this boils down to just filling the screen with CGI armies that stretch out onto the horizon. This is totally inaccurate. But even more troubling is the fact that even history media fails to properly capture the scale of ancient battles. To solve this problem we now turn to historians, reenactors, and Unreal Engine 5. The video begins with Dr. Roel Konijnendijk reviewing media depictions of ancient armies. We then pivot into Unreal Engine to show simulations of the points being made which are further reinforced by practical examples from reenactors from The Greek Phalanx (https://www.thegreekphalanx.org/). Media which was reviewed but which falls under fair use commentary includes: Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Witcher, and 300 Timestamps 00:00 Intro 02:21 Historian Reacts 05:49 Unreal Simulation 07:11 Troop File 09:53 Deployment 13:34 Depth vs Width 19:58 Historical Formations 25:00 Outro #reaction #history #documentary
