Quentin Tarantino almost lost faith in Pulp Fiction. After finishing the edit, he worried it was too strange for the average moviegoer and not the Saturday night crowd-pleaser he’d hoped. Early private screenings with his industry friends didn’t help either — most of them thought it didn’t work, with Kathryn Bigelow being the rare exception who believed in it. But everything changed when Pulp Fiction shocked the world at Cannes, winning the Palme d’Or and becoming an international sensation.
