Each time I rewatch Rango it gets better than the last, and I think it’s because the writing is just so clever. Clever in a way that makes jokes not just witty but also true to the characters telling them. Clever in a way that uses action not just as spectacle but also as a tool for its narrative. Clever in a way that positions its villains as real, threatening challenges. And clever in a way that develops its lead character from fraud to hero.
