HUGE Elm Meets Exotic Woods - woodturning the beautifully useful vase

This week, I’m taking on something a little different — combining five contrasting woods into a single turned vase. Starting with a rough chunk of elm, I splice in pieces of purpleheart, ebony, sucupira, and walnut to see if I can bring them all together in harmony. This project is part challenge, part experiment, and part celebration of what’s possible when you mix materials that shouldn’t work — but somehow do. No expensive tools or exotic techniques here, just a lathe, some patience, and a bit of creative problem solving.
