So I recently got my hands on a suit from Suit Supply and realized the three suits I owned were in drastically different price points, so I figured I would put all three head to head to see what the best men’s suit is and what the best value for money is. Hugo Boss was our first contender for best men's suit with this blue suit coming in at $500. This was made with a fused construction. Suits are typically given structure to give your body a flattering shape and at this price point that’s done through a process called fusing. Majority of the suits you see in department stores will be fused since they’re not only easier to produce at scale but much cheaper. A fused suit will have a cardboard, boxy like feel that doesn’t drape your body naturally since the fusing is pretty rigid. The 100% wool and the fact I had it tailored made it look presentable and wearable, the feel of the wool or the final fit wasn’t anything to write home about regarding Hugo Boss. Suit Supply was our mid tier option to find the best men’s suit. It starts at around $500 but this one was highly specced up to $1500 and was made-to-measure. All of Suit Supply's suits are unlined, half-canvased, or fully canvased. There is no fusing to be seen in the store. Mine was specced to be fully canvased as I was trying to replicate my Tom Ford. I got to select every little detail on the suit which was fun customizing. It featured the same finishes as Tom Ford with the milanese buttonhole, rolling lapel, the lack of felt under the collar, the barchetta pocket, and the functional button holes. The right accessories can make even the cheapest suit look expensive which is why I decided to wear this one with my Beckett Simonon shoes. Beckett Simonon makes dress shoes starting at $220 and keeps the quality super high. They use Blake stitching and use full grain italian leather. The shoes are handcrafted in Columbia. Suit Supply proved to be a great middle ground due to their diverse offerings, great service, and relative affordability. Tom Ford is one of the world’s best suiting brands but do they actually make the best men’s suit? The customer service was incredible at Tom Ford and they really did a good job at making you feel special. The suits start at $3880 but can go up many multiples depending on fabric, made-to-measure, an addition of a waistcoat, etc. I don’t find the need to splurge as the entry level fabrics are exceptional as is. I was offered four fittings to get this tailored to perfection. The fabric is all made from Zegna Couture which is one of the best brands in the world. The fit is where Tom Ford stands out from others. The suit drapes on your body so well causing anyone to look good in it. The end of the video has my conclusions and winner for best men's suit.
