The world has a new largest city. In a sweeping new U.N. report, Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta surged from 33rd to number one on the ranking of most-populated metropolises. Jakarta is now home to nearly 42 million people. Nine of the top 10 cities listed in the U.N report are in Asia. The report also says urban populations have doubled worldwide, putting major stressors on global infrastructure.
