Not far from Manhattan, in Orange County, Carl D’Aquino finds respite from the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple in his 18th-century farmhouse set on 20 acres. The interior designer says that when he and his late partner — antiques maven Bernd Goeckler — designed the home they ignored its American nature. Instead, it has a Gustavian attitude and palette mixed in with a combination of other periods and styles creating a stylist, warm and welcoming home.
