Eritrea has a lot of diversity and culture... and restrictions. There are 9 main ethnic groups in Eritrea: Tigrynia, Tigre, Afar, Nara, Bilen, Hedareb, Saho, Kunama, and Rashaida. In this video, first I head to Keren, a city north of Asmara. I had some delays in receiving the needed permit, but everything happens for a reason. Something unanticipated happened, so it all worked out. Once in Keren, i explored the city, its markets, and local life. Once back in Asmara, I attended an Expo festival where all nine ethnic groups were in the same place at the same time. Each tribe showed off parts of their cultures with dancing, jewelry, clothing, weddings and food. I also got to see the president of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, in person. It was all a very interesting way to end my trip. Eritrea is full of beauty and lots of different cultures. Enjoy a peek into this unique country.
