Longbow is a British, Hand-Built Speedster that just happens to be… ELECTRIC. In this video I’ll talk about the Production Car set to reach customers later this year - and then END the video talking to their Co-Founder and Co-CEO about their ultra-high performance concept on display at CES. It’s not easy launching a new company, fortunately the founders of LONGBOW bring a wealth of EV experience to the start-up. LONGBOW is lightweight by design—unlocking efficiency, agility, and driving purity. They plan a limited run of 150 SPEEDSTERs in 2026 - the first year of production is sold out. Then offer the ROADSTER model. LONGBOW weights under 900 kg for the Speedster, that’s under 2,000 lbs. Add the windscreen, windows and roof and it’s still only about 2,100 lbs. For comparison that’s only a bit more than the Lotus Elise. That gas-powered sports car has gone out of production after a long run - including being used as a donor vehicle for the Tesla Roadster, but it’s a good comparison. To achieve this weight it starts with aluminum sub-parts bonded together to make a rigid, lightweight chassis. That gets topped off with a Composite Body. They don’t disclose exact Battery Specs, but to ADD LIGHTNESS the Battery Modules are embedded directly into the Chassis, becoming a structural part of the EV. It’s somewhere around 55 kWh, providing an EV Range of up to 280 miles on the WLTP for the more aerodynamic Roadster. For the production model, power comes from a Single Rear Electric Motor, delivering about 270 horsepower - better than the last year of the Lotus Elise with the 1.8 L Engine. The result is 0-62 in as little as 3.5 seconds and more importantly… the lightweight allows the driver to corner and brake with the best of them, for an exceptionally AGILE EV. I HOPE this becomes a trend, focusing more on LightWeight than Ludacris Straight-Line Speed for Electric Vehicles.
