Northeast Ohio Weather Impact forecast: Impactful snow and cold on the way this weekend

Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio Weather Impact forecast for Dec. 12, 2025: Weather Impact Alert Days have been hoisted for Saturday and Sunday. The last in a series of fast-moving clippers will slide through Ohio Saturday afternoon and overnight. This will bring accumulating snow later in the day. The track of this storm system takes the bulk of the snow through our southern counties as of this morning but a subtle shift in the track could bring the snow further south or further north — so stay tuned. Right now, it looks like a few inches of snow area-wide with fall during the afternoon into the evening Saturday, with the most snow falling in our southern counties. Arctic cold will be setting in at the same time with temps falling through the 20s into the 10s by Saturday evening. This polar air, in addition to a wind shift, will begin to bring lake effect snow and squalls into our primary and secondary snowbelt. Lake snow will continue through Sunday into early Monday before ending. We could get some decent lake effect totals in the snow belt (primary and perhaps secondary) before everything is all said and done Monday morning. As a result, Winter Storm Watches have already been issued for the snowbelt beginning Saturday morning through Monday morning.
