In this video, we’ll learn how to connect Python with OpenAI using two different approaches: 👉 Without SDK 👉 With the Official OpenAI SDK First, we’ll see how to generate and securely configure your OpenAI API key using environment variables, and how to install the required libraries easily using the uv command. Then, we’ll work through two practical examples: 1️⃣ Without SDK: We’ll use Python’s built-in requests library to call the OpenAI API using the gpt-4o model, and ask the AI — “Name a Bollywood comedy movie with SRK, just the name.” In this example, you’ll learn how to set up the URI, headers, API key, and JSON payload, and how to handle the API response properly. 2️⃣ With Official SDK: Next, we’ll perform the same task using the official OpenAI SDK with the gpt-5 model. You’ll see how coding with the SDK becomes simpler, cleaner, and more readable.
