The BRITISH COMMERCIAL VEHICLE MUSEUM & car show
Old Classic Car
@oldclassiccarukAbout
Hi, I have lived and breathed vintage & classic cars, old lorries, automobilia and more here in the UK since the mid-1980s when I first laid a spanner on the rusting remains of a 1967 Triumph Spitfire. I learnt to drive in a Mk1 Austin Mini, and took my test in our Austin A40 Mk1. I created the Old Classic Car (OCC) site in 2001 to reflect my own interests in the world of aged automobiles and it is updated regularly. I hope that my videos about these characterful old cars, and my obsessions about them, help raise the profile of these wonderful relics of motoring's past. Please subscribe and, if you are able, leave me a few comments. Many thanks, Richard Jones. Video Description
I'm off to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum (BCVM) up in Leyland, Lancashire, for today's video - in part to view the lorries, vans, buses, coaches and pickup trucks on display, but also to have a mooch around a gathering of classic cars that took place on the same day, in the car park adjoining the museum. The British Commercial Vehicle Museum has been established for many decades, the building itself can trace its roots back to the 1930s and was given a major revamp c1983 in order that the museum could be opened. The town of Leyland is, of course, synonymous with the world of commercial vehicle manufacture, being home to Leyland commercial vehicles (and later rebrands) since the early 20th century. I think I did once visit the British Commercial Vehicle Museum many many years ago, but it was high time for a re-visit and when I read that a classic car meeting was also being held soon, I pencilled it in. The variety of classic lorries, trucks, public service vehicles (ie buses and coaches), and vans was very very impressive, and I must say a big thanks for being permitted to wander around recording this video, and also for the background information that volunteers at the museum were able to provide. If you love classic lorries and similar vehicles like I do, I really hope that you find this video of interest. Videos about classic trucks and preserved lorries always seem to do well on the channel, there are quite a few now on here so please have a look around the channel when you've viewed this upload. Comments, likes and subs welcomed as always, don't forget there is various merchandise available (links below), including a new calendar design featuring a selection of restored British lorries.
