Video Description
After the fall of the Third Reich, the world demanded justice. In 1945, the Nuremberg Trials brought the leading Nazi officials before an unprecedented international tribunal. It was not only about prosecuting war crimes, but also about exposing to the entire world the extermination, the planned military aggression, and the ideological machinery that had plunged Europe into devastation. Under the eyes of millions, the defendants were confronted with documentary evidence, survivor testimonies, and a process that sought to lay the foundations of modern international law. U.S. prosecutor Robert H. Jackson was key in transforming vengeance into legal justice. With documents signed by Hitler, extermination orders, and military reports, it was shown that Nazi crimes were not isolated excesses, but the result of a conspiracy organized by the State. Hermann Göring, Rudolf Hess, Joachim von Ribbentrop, and other high-ranking officials attempted to defend themselves with defiant speeches, denials, or feigned remorse, but the magnitude of the evidence was undeniable. Projected images of concentration camps and piles of corpses shocked the entire world. In 1946 the verdicts came: twelve death sentences, several life imprisonments, and some controversial acquittals that sparked debates about the justice of the victors. The Nuremberg Trials not only punished the main perpetrators of Nazism but also created concepts such as “crimes against humanity” and “genocide,” which would define the future of international law. This documentary revives the moment when the executioners of the Third Reich faced the truth and were laid bare before history.
