I know I promised to do a Carolina Reaper and a face reveal, and that’s still happening in an upcoming video. I was originally thinking of adding the One Chip Challenge too, but apparently they cost hundreds of dollars now since they aren’t made anymore. On top of that, some of you told me it’s a terrible idea, one dude even said he almost had to go to the ER after trying it. So yeah, not worth wasting hundreds of dollars and maybe ending up in the hospital. The Purge franchise has one of the best ideas any horror or thriller movie ever came up with: one night every year where all crime is legal. That concept should have been legendary. Instead, it got turned into a messy franchise that never really lived up to what it could’ve been. In this video essay, I’m going through every Purge movie in a full retrospective. From The Purge (2013) to The Purge: Anarchy, Election Year, The First Purge, and The Forever Purge, all of it is here. The first Purge movie was small and simple, basically a home invasion thriller with one of the scariest ideas ever. But then the sequels tried to blow the world open, turn it into political commentary, add more action, and somehow it just never really clicked. What should have been the most iconic horror concept of the last decade ended up watered down. This isn’t only just a review, it’s a complete retrospective video essay with my takes on The Purge franchise.
