Gladiator is quite possibly the most perfect film. It’s not my favorite, but I can hardly find any flaws in it. A large part of that perfection is the incredible character and character arc of Maximus, the film’s protagonist. His journey provides an incredible example of self-sacrificial masculinity and the masculine need for purpose that is sorely needed in today’s culture.
