The truth about Hasidic shpitzels, wigs and scarves Hasidic women wear various styles of headcovering that symbolize status, religiosity, fashion, trendiness, and family class. There are styles like: the wig, the band, the snood, the wig and hat, the frisette, the shpitzel, or arupgebinden. Some of these headcoverings signal such different orientations towards tradition and fashion, that families might not arrange matches on account of very different headcoverings.
