When I was young, one of my favourite comic book series was The Adventures of Tintin, created by Belgian Georges Remi, whose pen name was 'Hergé'. But, during the German occupation of Belgium, Hergé continued to create Tintin stories as a cartoonist for a German-controlled newspaper. When Belgium was liberated in 1944, Hergé was arrested as a collaborator. What is the truth? Did the creator of Tintin help the Germans? Did he betray his country? The image in this video of Tintin in a Nazi parade was from a more recent piece of political satire, part of a series of essays on fascism and mass entertainment by Ilari Kaila and Tuomas Kaila published on the Limited Hangout blog.
