It had one purpose to move mail across London as quickly as possible. The Post Office Railway (The Mail Rail) didn't just deliver mail within London but across the whole world. But at its peak in 2003, the whole network suddenly shut down and was abandoned. Overnight this railway went from delivering 4 million items a day to zero. In this episode, Andy goes underground to discover So if it was so important then why was it left to be forgotten? Business inquiries [email protected] Faultline is produced by Andy Burgess. Thumbnail photos by Miles Willis Hi, I'm Andy and I believe people would be less divided if they understood each other more. So in 2022 I started Faultline. I document and report on stories from overlooked people and places to shift how we see the world. In 2016 I started experimenting with filmmaking on Snapchat, where my work was nominated for a Shorty Award in 2018. During those years, I encountered stories in parts of the world that are largely ignored by mainstream media. These stories were way bigger than my own, so I turned the camera onto others and became the guide. That path led me to create and showrun a documentary series for Red Bull called 'Origins,' where we explored the history of extreme sports, the communities behind them, and how they shaped the cultures of today. Over the years my reporting has taken me to places experiencing profound change, from the Arctic to the Middle East, across Eastern Europe, South Asia and the United States, to forgotten communities back home in the UK. Everywhere I go, the same pattern emerges despite language barriers and cultural differences, everyone has stories they want to tell. It’s obvious when we have real conversations we find common ground and learn something new. But inside our algorithmic bubbles, that curiosity has been replaced with fear. Faultline is my answer to that, a space to share stories from places you might never have thought to look.Wherever possible, I get on the ground, listen deeply, and document what I find. Because when we default to curiosity instead of fear, we challenge our assumptions. That's what I'm trying to do here and I hope you'll join me.
