#ACwJ #datsun #nissan When Datsun became Nissan... and why? And why, decades later, Nissan reintroduced Datsun only to close it a 2nd time. If you're old enough, you remember the Datsun name. It originated in pre-WWII Japan with a car called the DAT, and later the "son of DAT" - the Datson. The name was later changed to Datsun, and a division of Nissan acquired them. By the 1950s Datsun was making cars and Nissan trucks, and they began exporting cars and light trucks as Datsuns. But as they became more successful executives wished they were building the company name worldwide, like Honda and Toyota were doing. So in 1981 they announced Datsun would now be known as Nissan. After $500million and 5 years, they evaporated 2 decades of name recognition. Get Cash Back When you Fill Up with Upside!
