Woodturning Unique Olive Wood Bowl

I have had these Olive wood logs for a while now and have been saving them for something special. This is an amazing wood to turn. Besides for the stunning wood grain, it smells very pleasant and is a joy to work with. A few weeks back my friend Mike Holton posted a video of a bowl he made from Jarrah Burl wood and resin. I loved the shape and just couldn’t get it out of my head when thinking of what to make next. So I asked Mike if he would be okay with me attempting a similar design. He said he would be honoured. This is probably my favorite piece I’ve made to date. I really like the unique shape and the contrasting colors of the wood and resin. Unfortunately it is difficult to capture the true beauty of this piece on camera. The resin looks very dark but is actually quite translucent in person.
