19X Difference In Deposits! [Engine Test Results]

While Motor Oil doesn't need any extra additives, what about your fuel? Can adding a bottle of Chevron Techron actually make your fuel better? AAA paid an independent lab to test the difference regular pump gas and Top Tier gas, and they found a 19x difference in deposits. A bottle of Chevron Techron Complete contains a Polyether Amine fuel detergent additive. Top Tier pump gas also contains that same chemical, so let's see what that AAA study found. CORRECTION: The cost per gallon of the Chevron Techron Complete on a 3,000 mile oil change interval is $0.08 per gallon. Personally, I use Top Tier fuel (Shell, Exxon/Mobil or QT) and drive about 10,000 to 12,000 miles a year (2 oil changes). I use one bottle a year, so my personal cost is $0.02 per gallon.
