Corsets only began to fall out of favor in the 1910s (when women wanted to dance, exercise and engage in civic life more and more) and especially after WWI with steel shortages. They also fell out of favor because women needing practical clothing for the war like you said but that was after 1908. Just a little 20th c dress history."
