Coca-Cola and Pepsi alike have played a masterful gambit with the capitalist system, limit-testing its framework and on some occasions breaking it all in the name of increasing shareholder value. They're prevalence and impact in the marketplace of goods is so pronounced that they're often some of the first brands to pop into mind when thinking about capitalism. But one does not climb so far up without treading on the backs of others, and for all the prosperity of the soft drink industry, there are thousands around the world that have suffered the consequences.
