Restoring and upgrading the drill press from my grandpa was a fun project exactly to my liking. The variable speed is incredibly useful, and I can finally run all tools at the right rpm. The VFD is a Sourcetronic ST 500 400v 1,5kW for the 1kW motor. It's not sponsored, and I paid about 260€ for it. You can get much cheaper ones, but I had a bad experience with one of them and decided that investing a bit more into a quality one made in Germany is a good idea. I have no regrets. Same with bearings and belt, which I got for 60€ total. I used cheap bearings for different projects, and they broke way too early. This nice drill press deserves nice hardware, so I went with SKF bearings.
