Jamie's Kitchen | Full Episode | Season 1 Episode 1 Jamie Oliver is taking a huge risk. He’s decided to train 15 young unemployed Londoners as Chefs who will work in a new non-profit making restaurant he’s building in the East End. Jamie left school himself without formal qualifications and he believes it’s passion for food not academic qualifications that makes a good cook. But he’s chosen a busy year in which to launch the project, he has visits to Japan and America planned, he’s writing a new book and he’s about to become a father. The launch of the project, and Jamie gets a roasting on radio XFM whilst trying to publicise the project and drum up recruits. Meanwhile the selection process begins with video auditions and reality dawns: these kids do not look like future top chefs and they don’t appreciate the deep fried tempura oyster Jamie’s lovingly prepared to test their passion for food. The final selection round sees the best 60 trying to copy a seared salmon and vegetable dish that Jamie demonstrates for them.
