John NeXT Optical Disk Ejects and Spins so good candidate for recapping bundle on eBay store QR code

Hello John and NeXT community: John’s great to recap NeXT optical drive and he bought the bundle from me on eBay, which includes a DOA optical drive if you’re gonna recap versus a prop I make sure the drive at least ejects as well as tries to spin up and then, I also test to make sure that the optical disc media mounts it is readable by a working optical disc drive . I also include some new old stock optical disc drive cables as this is a known failure point for NeXT optical drives honestly they’ve been the bane of my existence for 30 some years as well as everybody else else’s lol but we finally got medieval other ass about 10 years ago and decided to repair this SOB’s. It’s a labor of love people it so we actually created a document showing how to do it step-by-step it does not guarantee success. By any means these were the world‘s first optical dis drives produced by cannon on the original cubes. This was the only option, but they soon found out that they were very slow and prone to dust, causing read right failures. As a result, they were phased out. Steve Jobs had the idea of a computer in your pocket at the time of 256 big disc was twice the size of the largest hard drives available but what we end up happening is because of slight differences in formatting and dry failure. It didn’t work out the way it was envisioned. Then next pivoted to CD Rob drives. It was actually the first company to distribute computer software on CDR in a partnership with Sony producing the one X next city Rob drive that was fuzzy cool stuff they worked longer than the optical drives, but after these 37 years, the original electrolytic capacitors have started to fail so we’ve been proactive and replacing them on motherboards on CD. Rob drives and I have pros take care of the optical drives. It’s really a level 10 skill not for newbies, but they are cool when they do work. It’s like a typewriter run. A buck in there. Steve Jobs also had to be convinced to include a floppy drive, but in the long run, he was scoffed at for his opinion that everything could be done over a network. No need for backup devices and improve true although it took 30 years to get it right lol I’ve been through it all so my bundle includes an optical disc drive a few optical disc drive cables specific to NeXT cube hardware a dust filter and screws as well as one 256 bag original NeXT optical disc. It works with a laser burning ones and zeros onto the disc surface. I’ve actually had them catch fire when then laser caught dust on fire that dust accumulated in the disc drive . so now I’m always sure to blow out the dust bunnies in Advance, but often you may see a blue smoke of death, which means your motor probably was toast or capacitor and/or components failed, which could cause a domino effect of other components to fail. so I usually just power button off quickly and if they don’t power on at all, then I sell those particular drives as props, but if the customer wants to recap then I at least see if I could find one that’ll spin like this one for John to give him a good chance of being able to do it.
