Video Description

Two new decisions by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Indian government has led to tensions in southern India. One is the decision to implement delimitation, an exercise that redraws India's parliamentary constituencies as per its population. The second, is a three-language education policy. The DMK party from South India's Tamil Nadu state has been leading a movement on both these issues against Mr. Modi's federal government. K. Kanimozhi, a member of Parliament from the party, spoke to the BBC's Ishadrita Lahiri and explained the reasons behind the south's resistance.
