LA is a city of many different layers, from the world famous Hollywood movie industry to the homeless neighbourhood of Skid Row, the wealthy city of Beverly Hills, the bohemian vibe at Venice Beach, glitzy Santa Monica, the lowriding Mexican-American Chicano culture and community in Boyle Heights and the large Korean American community. Los Angeles means something different for everyone. I visit LA with an open mind to find out from the locals what they think of their city in California, and I leave with a deeper appreciation of the city, its people and its history. I think Los Angeles is a vibrant multicultural city that, like many other major metropolitan cities, suffers from issues like high cost of living and a sizeable homeless population, but it’s still a place where people are making their dreams come true. Los Angeles gets a lot of bad press from other YouTube videos and the media, but I think that is a very narrow definition of what the city is all about, so I think it’s best to go for yourself to decide what you think of the city. The U.S. Presidential elections are around the corner and tensions are high, but there are many examples of people coming together in LA.
