In this video he gives us a full tour of his small full-time home in Oregon, which is a beautiful, minimalist 524 square foot space that he built in 90 days for $60K USD. Derek believes in collaboration instead of competition, and so he shares his blueprints, shopping lists, and loads of tips and resources for free on his website and on YouTube (links below). He also believes that affordable housing doesn't have to be built with cheap materials, so he uses solid wood floors, granite countertops, slate tiles, metal roofing, and more because they'll end up costing less over time than if he used cheap materials and had to replace them more frequently.
