Rescuing an Abandoned PowerMac 5400 - Full Restoration - iiiDIY

The Power Macintosh 5400 was released in early 1996 as an upgrade to the 5200 and 5300 series, sold exclusively to the education market. As was custom for Apple at the time, the same product was sold for home use, under a different model name, the Performa 5400. The form factor and design didn't change for most of the 5000-series. It was a re-imagining of the "all in one" Macintosh, designed around a higher resolution 15" CRT. While the design language was simplified and toned down from the 500-series' more pronounced "Espresso" style... the 5000-series had ballooned in size and weighed more than 40lbs! The 5400 was a nice upgrade over the 5200/5300, ditching the LC PDS expansion slot in favour of the more modern PCI architecture. This particular model is special, because it's the later 200MHz model that was only made as a PowerMacintosh for schools! This one indeed came from a long-closed school. It has been kicked and scraped around a moldy garage for many years, like the LC575 and Molar G3 we have worked on previously... but hopefully we can save it!
