Video Description
Hi! Today, the restoration of a mysterious piece. This is an interesting piece of dirt that was brought to me by my friend who found it. As usual, he didn't say what it was, but he said it was something made of iron. And if it's made of iron, it means it's interesting to me. I'm starting to recover. First, I used a knife to clean the surface layer of dirt and earth. And it turned out to be an old, I don't know what year, pocket knife. The condition is terrible. From the first moment, I was afraid to open it, so as not to break it, because the rust was deeply embedded in the blade and in the handle itself. After cleaning the surface rust and dirt, I placed the knife, without opening it, in heated corn oil for one day. After that, I managed to open the knife, peel off another layer of rust, and place it, along with the mechanism and blade, in the rust remover. The handle is in very poor condition, it's made of wood, and I don't see the point in using it. I will make a new one, from a more expensive type of wood, from Mahogany wood. After cleaning the blade and mechanism from rust, I put it in a jar with baking soda and warm water to neutralize the acid. After cleaning, I realized that one of the parts of the mechanism was broken. And with the help of borax and silver, I tried to solder. But further restoration of this part did not lead to success and eventually broke down. Next, I made a completely new part of the mechanism from a piece of iron, shaping it to the desired shape by drilling a hole for the pins. Next, I started sanding the blade with sandpaper and stone, and also pre-cleaning it with an iron soft brush. After all these processes, I moved on to creating a penknife handle. With the help of a file and sandpaper, I shaped the handle, processed and sanded it, soaked it with wax for wood. In the end, I put everything together and the knife turned out to be interesting, the handle too, and also decided to additionally make a case that can be worn on a belt. In other words, a small house for a knife. For this, I used natural leather, of medium thickness. The suspension on the back side is also made of leather. And the closing part of the cover on the rivet. After all the work with the leather, I made a nice, comfortable case that can be carried in a bag and on a belt. And, as always, at the end of the video, I conducted a "Delicious for you" test. I hope you enjoy this video. Please don't forget to share it. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
