Video Description

Hi! Today restoration of mystery charred piece. You know, I love strange and mystical things, which a friend of mine often brings to me, finding them underground. This time, I bought this object at a flea market. I bought it solely because of the beautiful shape of the blade. I didn’t expect to find anything under this charred mass. I thought it was just a piece of burned wood, with the blade left intact. It reminded me of a 19th-century tool. But after I started examining the object and later made a report, I realized that it was not burned wood at all—it was a whole dragon figurine. Yes, the dragon was broken. The seller told me that the object wasn’t broken, that it was whole, although he didn’t really know what it was. So I had to work on it myself. Here’s what I did. First, I cleaned the object from surface dirt. I still didn’t understand what it was, but there was a smell of beans and earth. Then I removed all excess of that dirty mass. After that, I started restoring the blade. To refine it, I used stones of different grits and sandpaper. As it turned out, the object was not hardened. Perhaps it had really been in fire, and I had to harden it again. After that, I polished it, performed proper heat treatment, and finished it. Note that I rarely do this. In my opinion, the object is not very old. If you have more information, please leave a comment. The next step was gluing. I fitted the blade into the correct slot and glued the broken parts. I still don’t know what this material is. If it were plastic, it would have burned. If it’s not plastic, then maybe it’s some type of plaster or cement—I’m not sure. After gluing the object with epoxy resin, I moved on to sanding: removed the burrs, excess glue, and started restoring the missing parts using dry welding. I shaped the forms and glued them, then processed them mechanically. Next, I moved on to painting. I painted it according to my own preference, how I wanted it. After that, I decided to make a small, simple stand for the object, so it can now sit on the shelf. Thank you for watching! Be sure to share this video, leave your opinion, and hit the like button! Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
