Video Description
Hi! Today is the restoration of the mysterious knife. This item was purchased in France. The condition is average. The handle is in place. The scabbard is the same as the accessories. But there is rust, breakage and missing parts. But I'll fix it. I'm starting to restore the item. This is the first time I've seen such a knife! Where is he from? What is this knife for? If anyone knows, please write. I didn't find any information in books or on the Internet. The first thing I did was dismantle the old handle. Very surprisingly, this hilt is made of a very oddly shaped horn. I make horn handles myself, but not this shape. I put this handle in warm water because it was very dirty. And inside that horn was stuck leather and dust. I put the blade of the knife itself in a rust remover. As for the scabbard, are they also made of horn or? And with the help of a construction hair dryer, I disassembled them. The accessories of the scabbard were glued with resin and the scabbard itself. First, I started cleaning the scabbard parts. I used kefir and baking soda to clean the brass parts of the scabbard. Kefir copes very well with the old patina and dirt on the brass. After finishing cleaning the scabbard parts, I moved on to restoring the blade. The thickness of the blade is very thin, so after cleaning the rust, I first placed the blade in warm water with baking soda to neutralize the acid effect. And then he started cleaning the surface of the blade with an iron soft brush and sandpaper. After cleaning, I moved on to the part that was broken. This is an ordinary tube that was made of thin copper. I took a new tube, shaped it, added hand engraving, added decoration. After that, I cleaned the handle first in warm water, then with sandpaper. I glued all three parts of the handle using epoxy resin. After gluing, I lightly processed the handle with a copper detail and moved on to the scabbard. I adjusted the scabbard because it wasn't exactly straight because it was glued with resin or something similar. I added the missing elements in the scabbard fittings. After that, I covered the surface of the scabbard with glue and put all the details together. After that, as usual, I showed the final result of my restoration. I hope you enjoyed this video. Please, share this video. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
