Video Description
Hi! Today, the restoration of a unique Egyptian sword Khopesh. The Khopesh came to us from the axe and became a sword. Or was a sword and became an axe? I don't know for sure. But the item is unique and interesting for me. It can be seen that this copy was made in our days. The condition is normal. There is a slight rust. The hilt and scabbard are missing, which I made to my liking. Well, let's start restoring the sword. The first thing I did was clean the blade with a rust remover. Next, I placed the blade in warm water along with baking soda to neutralize the acid effect. Next, I cleaned the surface with a sandblaster. And I started sanding. Sanded by hand using sandpaper and polishing pastes. But without a shine effect. Based on the fact that the blade belongs to me, I decided to make the handle to my liking. Since in the initial version it is very wide for my hand. After completing the adjustment of the handle, I moved on to light sanding, fitting the rivet holes, and creating the handle. I made the hilt of the sword from a wonderful, beautiful dry piece of walnut wood, brass and leather. For the rivets, I used copper and brass inserts for decoration. I glued everything together with epoxy resin and riveted it. After drying, I moved on to processing the handle. It took me about four days. I've been sanding for a long time. After finishing the sanding, I soaked the handle in warm olive oil. The next step is a Khopesh leather scabbard. I'm making this type of scabbard for the first time. I chose medium-thick dark leaher. Likewise, I cut out the main part and details of the desired shape, sewed, glued and riveted. Next, I sharpened the blade of the Khopesh and did an interesting test for you as usual. Thanks for your attention! Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
