The answer isn't that simple. In an ideal world you'll have a balanced selection of primes AND zooms but there are some things to consider carefully before you blow your life savings on a posh lens collection. In this video I talk about the pros and cons of prime lenses and zoom lenses while taking you out on a photo shoot to do some experiments with my lens collection. The results are eye-opening and might just help you decide what types of lenses to take on your photography trips. For this experiment, I'm using Hasselblad lenses but the same points will apply to pretty much any camera system that you might have. When it comes to landscape photography you might not think that prime lenses will offer you much of an advantage but I'm going to show you examples of where prime lenses were the best option for my creative vision.
