The Otaro Star System’s sun has always been ferociously hotter than those of The Inhabited Systems. As long as we’ve known about it, at least. No planets in its orbit can hold regular citizen life, yet those of us who find no other option of employment have taken jobs at outposts that have been established across the Solaran surface. Ever since The Military Research Division found an abundance of a rare mineral, Corpos have raced to build stations for harvesting and transporting it. A chemical comes up from beneath the ground and reacts with the sun’s intense heat to form the mineral we work to acquire, which cools just enough at nightfall to be harvested and shipped off planet. Once night temperatures reach the specified number, we make our way to the surface where we work under the heat of Solara’s scorched moon and then return to the building’s lower floors deep underground for daytime. None of us know if the Corpos will ever stop harvesting on Solara, or if the mineral will always be here. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
