Officers stopped a Tesla on August 14, 2025 for not displaying a license plate. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer asked the driver to roll down the rear window due to the windows being dark. The driver questioned why that was necessary, to which the officer advised the tint was too dark, and she couldn't see inside for her safety. The driver rolled the window down slightly, and the officer could see a woman in the back. The driver asked why she was being stopped, and after being told about the missing license plate, she stated it should be on the back. It wasn't, so the officer requested the driver's identification, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. The driver refused to provide any documents, claiming that she wasn't contracted with law enforcement. The driver further stated she was not driving, she was traveling to take her daughter to school. After some back and forth regarding the legality of the stop and the need for identification documents, the driver was pulled out of the vehicle and arrested. She was charged with Resisting without Violence (Florida Statute § 843.02). She was also cited for No Tag Being Displayed, Registration Not Carried, License Not Carried, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving While License Suspended without Knowledge. Her license had expired in 2024.
