Video Description
In this video, we take a look at the Hutter Hu 136, a German ground attack aircraft and/or dive bomber from World War II. We first talk about the saying "flying blind", and the incredible importance of pilot vision when designing an aircraft. We then talk about Germany's competition for an armored ground attacker, with the Henschel Hs 129, the Focke Wulf 189C, and the Hu 136 (sort of). We talk about the odd design of the Hu 136, from its small size to its surprising weight to its lack of landing gear to, strangest of all, its cockpit canopy that was almost entirely made of metal. We talk about the rather optimistic projected specs of the design, and how it ultimately failed. We end by talking about how the design possibly would have evolved if it had made it past the drawing board.
