Arthur Schopenhauer and his book, studies in pessimism is my first recommendation if you're interested in delving into this topic beyond this video. It's a super quick read and can be quite funny at times, oddly enough. Keep in mind that it has some very offensive material in it tho, and I don't mean that in a philosophical sense.
