Compared to rivals like the LG G5, Samsung S95F, and Sony’s own Bravia 9 mini-LED, the Bravia 8 II stands out thanks to its glossy screen, excellent HDR performance with over 1800 nits peak brightness, wide BT.2020 coverage, and flawless uniformity. SDR and HDR CalMAN results were incredibly accurate, with DeltaE values well below visible thresholds, making this one of the most precise TVs I’ve tested. Motion handling for movies is solid, though still not perfect, and gaming performance is its biggest drawback—limited to 120Hz, higher latency, and broken HGIG tone mapping make it less appealing for PC gamers compared to LG and Samsung. Still, for cinematic content in a dark theater room, the Bravia 8 II offers excellent contrast, rich OLED color, and industry-leading audio, making it an easy recommendation at its now-lower price point, provided you’re fine with only 55- and 65-inch sizes and just two HDMI 2.1 ports.
