Ukrainians take shelter as Russia launches 653 drones and 51 missiles on Kyiv overnight

Russia unleashed a barrage of drone and missile attacks in the Kyiv region Friday night. Of the 653 drones and 51 missiles launched, 585 and 30 respectively were downed by Ukrainian forces. Ruslan Malashok, 35, had his home destroyed in the attack. “If they (Russians) wanted peace, they wouldn't do it (launch air attacks). What peace? Look at the number of missiles they launched, the number of Shaheds they launched tonight. Is this for peace? This is not for peace, this is for the destruction of Ukrainians,” he said. No progress was made in U.S.-brokered peace talks this week, leaving 55-year-old resident Olena Khomik questioning how the rest of the world witnesses the ongoing conflict. “If Ukraine falls, this infection will spread to the whole world. Ukraine is now holding the whole world on its shoulders and its back. The world should come to its senses. They should help us, because we no longer have the strength, we are already doing things beyond our capabilities. Only God knows and helps us to hold on. How small Ukraine is, how big Russia is, how big the world is. It (the world) just stands there and indifferently watches as we bleed.
