What’s the difference between our various public tours??? We get that email all the time and here is your answer… All our tours visit multiple pizzeria of varying styles with behind-the-scenes access to their kitchens. We do a slice of pizza at each stop, with the regular slice as the point of comparison. Here’s where the walking tours differ from the Sunday Bus tour: NUMBER OF PIZZERIAS: The bus tour visits 4 pizzerias, while the walking tour visits 3. DURATION: The bus tour is a longer experience at 4.5 hours, whereas the walking tour lasts about 2.5 hours. SCHEDULE: Public walking tours run daily in different neighborhoods. There’s usually a lunchtime tour every day (besides Tuesday) and also a dinnertime tour on Sundays. Public bus tours only happen on Sundays. That’s why we call it the Sunday Pizza Bus! LOCATION: Each walking tour exists in a different neighborhood. We name each one after its neighborhood, so you’ll know where it starts and where you’ll be walking. The walk is about 1 mile but the exact route changes every time depending on who is in the group, where they’re from, and what their pizza hopes and dreams may be. The bus tour starts and ends in Lower Manhattan (near South Street Seaport) but ventures out to the boroughs for a larger web of exploration. We try to stick to a 15 mile radius. Scott runs all of these Sunday bus tours and likes to meet the group before making any routing decisions, so you’ll never know where you’re going to go in advance. We also offer private versions of both formats that can be customized to your group's specific needs. Private tours don’t just stick to cheese pizza and we have options for beverage pairings and extra food and all that good stuff! No matter which tour you choose, the focus remains the same: a deep dive into the history, science, technology, methodology, and culture of pizza.
