After descending into Wadi Lajab via a narrow, gravel road, we were greeted by lush green trees, towering cliffs on either side, and a running streams with lots of rock pools. It was one of the most beautiful walks we have ever done and a must-see location in Saudi Arabia. Be prepared to get wet feet because of all the water in the wadi. Ella enjoyed a refreshing swim in a few of the rock pools. After 5 hours of exploration in Wadi Lajab, our road trip continued towards Faifa Mountain, which is known for its tall, steep and green mountains. Our destination was location with watchtowers surrounded by beautify scenery. We did not realize how adventurous this drive was going to be, along steep narrow roads through small villages located on the terraced mountain sides. We only just reached our destination before the Saudi Border Police turned up to let us know that the area we were currently in was not suitable for tourists due to its close proximity to the Yemen border. However, the two guys were very friendly and told us to enjoy the views for 10-20 minutes now that we were there and that they would wait for us at the top of the road to escort us in the right direct on our ongoing journey to Jazan. We had a fantastic day and a perfect place to visit for nature lovers. We can highly recommend Wadi Lajab and Faifa Mountain, although better to keep a bit more distance to the Yemen border than we did ☺ Join us on this journey through southern Saudi Arabia, where you will encounter some of the greenest parts of the Kingdom.
