Abandoned 1974 6x6 Fire Truck: Will It Start & Drive After 10 Years in Remote Alaska?

There is a saying in Alaska that the farther north you go, the more independent the people are. Where our homestead is, we don't have city services such as transfer stations, police or fire departments. With fire season coming up, we turned our attention off of the garden and onto preparedness. This old 1974 firetruck was left on the homestead for many years, meant to be fixed for the community. No one came to get it running, so we decided to give it a shot. If we can get this truck running, it would be a incredible tool to help protect our homestead as well as others in the community. With the start of Birch syruping just around the corner, we also started in on working on the barrel stove and ran the pipe through the roof of our outdoor kitchen. This stove will be altered to be used as a wood-fired syrup evaporator, helping supply the homestead with a mineral rich, low glycemic sweetener from the land.
