While staying at the Treehouse Lodge in the Amazon rain forest we had the opportunity to experience what it was like to live in a treehouse for the first time in our lives and partake a series of adventure travel excursions including fishing for piranhas, meeting friendly sloths, spotting all kinds of jungle wildlife native to the Amazon and feeding monkeys. Website: http://www.rainforestcruises.com/ 🌳🦜 Treehouse Lodge Adventure: Living in the Amazon Jungle, Piranha Fishing & Wildlife Encounters! 🏡 Arrival at the Treehouse Lodge – Jungle Dream Come True! We just checked into the incredible Treehouse Lodge, deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest! For the next few days, we’ll be living high up among the treetops, and you’re invited to join us for a grand tour of our personal, private treehouse. From the cozy mosquito-netted bed and the leafy living area to the open-concept bathroom wrapped around the tree trunk, this is every childhood dream come true! 🌧️ Jungle Walks & Medicinal Plants – Exploring in the Rain Our Amazon adventure began with a jungle walk—rain pouring down around us—as we set out to discover the property. Guided by locals, we learned about Amazonian medicinal plants like pichirina (“jungle iodine”) and saw the famous blood mushroom (not edible!). We even found the leaf used to make Juane, a traditional jungle dish. 🛶 River Excursions: Pink Dolphins, Sunsets & Sloths Back at the river, we boarded a boat to cruise the mighty Amazon at sunset. Along the way, we spotted macaws, a sloth perched high in the trees, and enjoyed one of the most unforgettable sunsets ever. Our expert guide made sure we didn’t miss a thing! 💤 Sleeping in the Jungle Canopy After a long day, we crawled into our mosquito nets, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the rainforest. A dramatic thunderstorm made the night even more atmospheric. Waking up in the treetops, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle, is truly magical. 🎣 Piranha Fishing – Amazon River Thrills! Day two kicked off with another river adventure—fishing for piranhas! Armed with bait and fishing rods (no fingers, thankfully!), we set out to test our luck. After multiple tries, we finally landed our first piranha—its sharp teeth straight out of a horror movie! Success called for a proud photo and the promise of a unique jungle dinner. 🍽️ Jungle Meals: Ceviche & Piranha for Dinner Back at the lodge, lunch featured our favorite Peruvian dish: ceviche, served with classic corn. That evening, we enjoyed a truly Amazonian dinner—piranha, cooked and served in a hollowed orange. There wasn’t much meat, but it was a memorable meal! 🌲 More Treehouses, Bamboo Forests & Wildlife Encounters Exploring further, we trekked through bamboo forests, crossed rope bridges, and visited some of the property’s tallest treehouses (not for the faint of heart if you fear heights!). We fed monkeys with bananas, squelched through mud to search for giant lily pads, and visited a rescued sloth named Pablito—a sleepy jungle celebrity. 🐒 Daily Life in the Amazon: Nature, Adventure, and Relaxation Every moment at the Treehouse Lodge blended adventure with tranquility, from spotting exotic animals and learning about local plants, to relaxing above the rainforest floor.
