In this video, I restore an old rusty alarm bell with a brutalist design, used in factories across Central-Eastern Europe. More about the restoration process: The bell restoration was highly challenging but rewarding. I learned a lot about their mechanism. It had many imperfections and the electrical wiring was missing completely; luckily the coils were in good shape and there was no need to rewire them. If you want to learn more about this alarm bell, I encourage you to watch this video. When I saw it, I was shocked at how bad it looked; it was full of rust, bends, cracks, and missing parts! At the end of the video, I made a test so you can see how it works! More about the alarm bells: They were typically used in factories, warehouses, or other large facilities for signaling alarms, such as fire alerts, emergency evacuations, or break times. The round dome produces sound when struck by a hammer, usually powered by an electric solenoid. The rectangular box underneath likely contains the electrical components, such as the solenoid that activates the hammer to ring the bell. The metal construction suggests it is durable and designed for long-term use in industrial environments. Based on the visible corrosion and wear, it seems to be an older model, possibly 1950-60s.
