About

Welcome to Rusty Shades Restoration! My name is Johnny, and you’ll see many restoration video projects here. I restored a lot of different things! From antique tools and machines from the past to rusty, vintage, beautiful items. I have always had a passion for antiques and history, but at the same time, I love to make something beautiful with my own hands. I started to work on restoring projects from my small attic a few years ago. Meanwhile, I developed a lot of my passion, and with your support, I will go even further, trying to share my knowledge, learn, and experiment with many things on this channel. I did all this to follow my dreams for many years: to deliver fantastic restoration content and share this joy with the world! Video Description

In this video, I restore an old rusty camping stove made in Germany by Ernst Hahnel. More about the restoration process: It was very challenging but rewarding. I learned a lot about camp cookers! The E. Hahnel Effekt 15 stove was in disrepair when I got it. The fuel tank was damaged; it had a considerable dent that required a lot of skill and patience to repair because I had to disassemble it fully and solder it back together perfectly to avoid any leakage. If you want to learn more about this antique German stove, I encourage you to watch this video. When I saw it, even though I was shocked at how bad it looked, it was full of dents, bends, rust, and burns! The most challenging part was the pipe that had many dents on it. I've tried many methods off-camera to avoid extra work and extensive interventions, but till the end I managed to make it smoother again and in working order. After removing the rust, the parts were painted with heat-resistant paint, and I polished all the beautiful brass parts. At the end of the video, I made a test so you can see how it works! More about the camping stove: It was manufactured by the famous Ernst Hahnel's company in the early 1940s. I hope I have caught everything, but if you have any questions, you can comment, and I'll get back to you! Cheers! Johnny.
