EnGenius sent me their ECP106 cloud smart managed PDU for me to take a closer look. This is the first smart PDU that I have been able to test. You can manage the PDU either through the standalone web interface or via their cloud web interface and mobile app. The PDU features power on/off delays so you can stagger the power on/off sequence, power schedules, energy monitoring, autorebooting outlets, email alerts, and a built in display for viewing power consumption. For safety features, the PDU makes use of fireproof MOVs to minimize the likelihood the PDU will catch fire if a large power surge occurs. The PDU will also alert you when outlets are operating outside normal parameters. PDUs may not necessarily be the most glamorous rack mount equipment, but it is an important consideration for your server/network rack infrastructure.
