Feneck: $1B U.S. Critical Minerals Plan “Will Do Nothing”

Founder of the Feneck Commodities Report, John Feneck, joins Kitco Mining’s Paul Harris at the 2025 Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek to share his outlook on metals, M&A, and where investors should focus now. “This is just the beginning of a wave of that, I believe,” when speaking about recent M&A. With corporate teams crowding the summit, he expects more juniors to be taken out at 30 - 70% premiums. Developers buying and producing mines for cash flow is another trend he is watching closely. Feneck points to Newmont’s TSX delisting as a wake-up call: “Spend $50,000 or $60,000 and get it done. Stop spending money frivolously and put it to use for shareholders.” He also noted that while the broader bull market is lifting GDX and GDXJ, some juniors are lagging due to heavy selling pressure and bloated share counts. For positioning, silver is his top call. “Once it breaks above $43 on a couple of closes, you have to get positioned in silver equities or else it’s going to be too late.” At the same time, he warns of overbought signals in gold and stresses profit-taking discipline. Feneck is also watching Fed policy, a stretched S&P 500, and a likely rotation from tech into value, factors he says will fuel further money flows into mining.
